We cover all aspects of the vehicle, and the environment. In the classroom students gain a basic understanding of the mechanics of how vehicles work, some of the physics governing the relationship between the vehicle and the road (or lack thereof as the case may be), general driving techniques, and driving theory.
Outside, we build students’ confidence and understanding through a series of exercises designed to give them hands on experience with what the vehicle is capable of — what it feels like when something is going wrong, as well as right – and how to react properly. We feel it’s best for somebody to experience ABS braking, and other electronic aids on modern vehicles, for the first time on our skid pad, instead of when going downhill, on an ice covered back road, towards an intersection. Our facilities allow us to replicate and train in a diverse number of working and driving environments. For example; we can ice down our skid pad to simulate an urban environment in winter weather conditions, we can create standing water on the skid pad, venture out for a slippery mud exercise or, we can set up just about anything in between.
